Terms of Service
Effective July 12, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Monte iOS app and related services. By creating an account or using Monte, you agree to them.
What Monte is — and isn't
Monte provides educational guidance, budgeting tools, and general financial information generated from the data you connect and share. Monte is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, accountant, or attorney, and nothing in the app is personalized investment, tax, or legal advice. Monte never executes trades, transfers funds, or moves money — every financial decision and action is yours. For advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed professional.
Your account
You must be at least 18 to use Monte. Keep your sign-in method secure; you're responsible for activity under your account. You agree to connect only accounts you own or are authorized to access.
Subscriptions and the free trial
- New accounts receive a 14-day free trial of Monte Pro. No payment method is required to start.
- After the trial, continued access to Pro features (bank sync, Ask Monte, the daily brief) requires a Monte Pro subscription, billed through your Apple ID.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your Apple ID settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Apple's refund policies apply to past charges.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to break, probe, or overload the service; don't reverse engineer it; don't use it to violate any law; don't try to access another person's data. We may suspend accounts that do.
Third-party services
Bank connections are provided by Plaid, subscriptions by Apple and RevenueCat, texts by Twilio, and AI responses by Anthropic. Their terms apply to their services. We aren't responsible for outages or errors in third-party data — balances and transactions are only as accurate as what your institution reports.
Disclaimers
Monte is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that guidance, projections, or calculations are complete or error-free, or that the service will be uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Monte and its creator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, or data, arising from your use of the app — including decisions you make based on information in the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
You can stop using Monte and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of residence of Monte's operator, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
